Ordering Recommendation

Use to evaluate suspected autoimmune disease of the central nervous system.

Targeted phenotype-specific panels are preferred for the evaluation of autoimmune neurologic disease. Refer to the Autoimmune Neurologic Disease Panel With Reflex, Serum and CSF Test Fact Sheet for phenotype-specific test options.

Testing in both serum and CSF is recommended to maximize diagnostic yield; refer to Autoimmune Neurologic Disease Panel with Reflex, Serum (3006051) for serum testing.

Transfer four 1 mL CSF aliquots to ARUP standard transport tubes. (Min: 2.8 mL)

Fluid other than CSF. Grossly hemolyzed specimens.

Stability

After separation from cells: Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month (Three freeze/thaw cycles are acceptable)
